– Treasurers Report Chair update For the financial year ending 31 August 2025

Good evening, this has been my third year as co-chair of the Trafalgar Schools PTA (“The PTA”) together with my co-chair Nikki Goddard-Moulton. I wanted to thank everyone here for their support and involvement in making this another successful year.

The PTA aims to raise £20k per year, with £10k assigned to each school, to spend on items to enrich the education of the pupils that attend both Trafalgar Infant and Junior School. The PTA also works to strengthen relations with school, staff and parents.

This year the PTA raised over £38.5k. This is an amazing achievement and shows the support that the schools receive from the PTA, staff, parents and the community.

I would like to thank the PTA committee that spent many hours behind the scenes ensuring the smooth running of the PTA.

Firstly, my co-chair Nikki Goddard-Moulton, she spends many hours at the school every week liaising between the school, class reps and parents, as well as either running or supporting at the majority of events throughout the year.
The PTA treasurer team, led by Natasha Din who stepped into this role last year, supported by Maryna Kulbachna, Vicky Greenaway and Nikki Toner.
Jo Behanna, our outgoing secretary and Niki Morgan for running our social media accounts.
Claire Jacks for creating all the brilliant posters publicising PTA events and collating the
monthly PTA newsletter.
Amanda for taking over as incoming secretary mid-year.

Overview of the Year – Fundraising

Key achievements and milestones.

The fundraising total was achieved by another full calendar year of events over the 2024/2025 academic year.

The Autumn term

Uniform sales started in September, with sales arranged throughout the year. Nearly £1k was raised, a lot of uniform items are sold for approx. £1 so this is a significant amount of uniform that has found a new home and helped with the affordability for parents and carers. Thank you to Jenna Storey and her team of volunteers.

There were 2 Little Recyclers events running in the last year. Thank you to Gus Samuel and everyone that helped, raising £371.

Over half term Lisa Probets organised another great Halloween trail, raising nearly £400 The fireworks night is not only a great fundraiser but also a great family event, bringing in £3.5k. Thank you to Kathryn Dodds for organising.

Rugby parking started with the autumn internationals, followed by events across the year. Led by Richard Reichwald, together with his team of regular volunteers raised over £11k

Christmas is always a busy me of events. Starting with the Christmas fair, a great event led by Jennie Kraus and Ushma Hatton raising over £5k, with Louise Bartlett and Nikki Toner running the group to and Sophie Harris organising the Christmas raffle.

Two great Christmas events arranged for the children during the school day were the junior festive fun day which was organised by Laura Jennings and Nikki Goddard-Moulton and the infant bazaar organised by Katie Avigdor. Then there was the sale of Christmas trees organised by Claire Jacks which raised over £800.

Onto the Spring term

Fundraising continued with already mentioned uniform sales and rugby parking. A sellout quiz and curry night organised by Lis Soldal Jeens, Tina Shadick and Kathryn Dodds raising £1.7k.

Easter egg raffle raised £475 organised by Sophie Harris.

Summer

The summer term started with Earth Day, a school community event promo ng recycling run by Karoline Atkins and raising £600

The school discos were moved to May this year, a team of volunteers organised each year group.

A great summer fair led by Meryl Hopkins and a team of organisers including Nikki Toner, Lisa Probert, Kathryn Dodd, Laura Jennings, Laura Madden and myself, this was the last big fundraiser of the year raising over £8k.

In addition to the events run throughout the year, the PTA receives donations from parents, carers and the community. These are made through regular donations, donations for refreshments provided by the PTA at school shows and advertising for local businesses.

The PTA sees the children from the start in receptions at introduction coffee mornings, donations of school water bottles and the reception tea towels through to the end of year 6 with the leaver’s yearbook.

Overview of the Year – School donations

The standard annual £20k donated to the across the two schools paid for items including school library and topic books, subscriptions including TTRS, white rose maths, little Wandle and The Week magazine, living eggs, reading records, additional sports kits and more…

As well as these two large payments the PTA also paid for picket fence panels, horseshoe tables, stick inset house and Wishlist items.

Challenges and Risks

This was another successful year of fundraising; we should note that there has been a small reduction in the figure raised. A fall in the number of school aged children has been seen across all London boroughs over the last few years and the number of children within Trafalgar is continuing to fall. This reduces the number of families attending events resulting in lower total of money raised and also means there are less volunteers/classes able to assist at events. This trend is expected to continue over the next few years. The increase in rugby parking dates, uniform sales and raffles has helped to counter these changes. This should not take away from the incredible achievement completed this year but is a challenge that should be monitored going forward. Acknowledgements

In addition to the PTA committee and event leads already mentioned, I would like to thank the class reps, the teams behind each event and every one that has volunteered any me to help us fundraise.

Thank you to Simon Bradley for continuing to run the PTA website, setting up event ticketing and being the compere at events.

Thank you to Mrs Keefe, Mrs Burton and Mr Allen for all their help last year.

Both Nikki and I are stepping down as joint chairs this year, as each of our youngest children are in year 6. The role has been a lot of work but we are pleased with the contribution that we’ve been able to make to the PTA and fundraising for the school. It has been a privilege to chair such a dedicated group of individuals, and thank you again to everyone that has supported us and the PTA.

Stepping down now allows me for a smooth transition, as we are on hand until the end of the school year for any questions and assistance needed. We are happy to be passing over to two great new co-Chairs, both of which have been heavily involved in the PTA in recent years. We thank you again for all of your support over the last 3 years.

Executive Summary

The dedicated efforts of the PTA committee, parents, teachers, and volunteers resulted in a remarkable fundraising total of £35.3k during the 2024/2025 financial year. This falls slightly behind the previous year's total of £41k. After accounting for event and administrative expenses (£1.5k), a net income of £33.8k was generated.

The Trafalgar School PTA's fundraising events in 2024/2025 generated a substantial income while fostering strong community engagement. A strategic combination of well-organised events, focused on both fundraising and family fun, resulted in significant financial gains.

Rugby parking was a major contributor this year and raised £11k. Other key events, including the Summer Fair £6k, the Christmas Fair £3.5k, Fireworks Night £3.5k, Second-hand Uniform Sales £1k, and the Quiz & Curry Night £1.7k, collectively provided a substantial boost to the school's resources.

This successful fundraising strategy not only secured vital funds but also strengthened the PTA's connection with the school community, highlighting its value and a sense of shared purpose. The positive financial results are a testament to the PTA's effective planning and the dedication of its volunteers.

Money raised for the school by the community was approximately £5.5k adverse to last year. This is due to a couple of factors, such as the smaller intake of children which is starting to progress through the schools and the school field having been re-laid which slightly hindered the Summer Fairs full potential.

Other income

The significant growth in non-event income reflects the strong support from the Trafalgar School community. Donations totalled £5k (significantly less than 24/25 at £7.5k). The majority of this was predominantly donated from consistent parent contributions, £4.5k. However, going forward we will lose this amount as the main contributor’s child has now left.

Taking the lower amount of donations we have received this year into account, we have made it easier now for donations to be made. For example, we have added a “Donation” button on the PTA website. We have also made prompts for donations via website purchases and Zettle payments.

Expenses

The PTA’s expenses for the year totalled £1.5k, a decrease of £250 from 23/24 £1,770. This responsible spending covered essential operational costs including memberships, insurance, accounting, and software.

Contributions to the school

This year, the contributions proposed for the schools were £21k (23/24 £39.6k – which included the £20k towards the IT improvement project). Contributions made to the school, consist of the Little Wandle subscription, TTRS, reading records and school library and topic books.

The donations, paid to the schools of £20k, helped pay for picket fences, horse shoe tables and the stick insect house.

Liquidity

At the end of the financial year, the PTA has a cash and PayPal balance of £69k. However, £20k of this has been set aside for the funding of the IT project for the school. Therefore, the net balance comes to, £49k.

This report concludes the financial overview for the period ending 31 August 2025. The PTA expresses its gratitude to all volunteers for their contributions this year and looks forward to continuing its support of Trafalgar School in the coming year.

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect

1.Basis of accounting

These accounts have been prepared under the historical cost convention with items recognised at cost or transaction.

The accounts have been prepared in accordance:

with the Statement of Recommended Practice: Accounting and Reporting by Charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) issued on 16 July 2014
and with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102)
and with the Charities Act 2011.

The charity constitutes a public benefit entity as defined by FRS 102.

Recognition of income

These are included in the Statement of Financial Activities (SoFA) when:

the charity becomes entitled to the resources;
it is more likely than not that the trustees will receive the resources;
and the monetary value can be measured with sufficient reliability

Liability recognition

Liabilities are recognised where it is more likely than not that there is a legal or constructive obligation committing the charity to pay out resources and the amount of the obligation can be measured with reasonable certainty.

Support costs

The charity has incurred expenditure on support costs.

Volunteer help

The value of any voluntary help received is not included in the accounts but is described in the trustees' annual report.
