Para 1.17 | The Trust Deed states, "The Hyde Trustees shall apply the income of that Charity in support of the religious worship in the lands and buildings of the Charity”. The Trustees' responsibility is to maintain the fabric of the Church building and the Church manse so that the worship can be maintained, and to assist the Pastor and Deacon in promoting the spiritual life and well-being of the members of the Church and surrounding community. |
| Summary of the main activities in relation to those purposes for the public benefit, in particular, the activities, projects or services identified in the accounts. |
Para 1.17 and 1.19 |
Throughout the year the trust has sought to maintain the properties of the trust in a good condition to allow the membership of Hyde Street Chapel to organise the worship of God and the spread of the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ in the neighbourhood of the chapel and in the city of Winchester. To this end the Chapel has two worship services each Sunday and a mid-week meeting for Bible study and prayer. Pastoral care has been shown. There has been outreach into the community and gifts have been made to many charities including some overseas. The Chapel has run a Sunday-School for children aged 3 and above, meeting before the morning service. It has also run a games/craftwork evening every fortnight on Fridays for children aged 7 and above and a monthly activity afternoon for children aged 3-6. Several “Maintenance Mornings” have been organised to allow members to participate in maintaining the fabric of the building. |
| Statement confirming whether the trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit |
Para 1.18 | The charity has taken due consideration of the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit and seeks to influence the moral and public behaviour of the community by the proclamation of the gospel and the application of Christian principles to the life of the individual. |

Achievements and Performance
| SORP reference | ||
|---|---|---|
| Summary of the main achievements of the charity, identifying the difference the charity’s work has made to the circumstances of its beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as a whole. |
Para 1.20 | Maintenance Work Rainwater has penetrated through a roof gully resulting in a damp wall. This was repaired by a member. Other members have cleared leaves from gutterings and walkways and cleaned the church on a weekly basis. Membership This has increased with 3 new members and 3 new attendees. One much-loved member was called home to glory and was comforted by readings of the Scriptures from our Pastor. Another attendee received support from church members on the death of her nephew in a motor-cycle accident. Ministry The pastor has preached edifying and challenging sermons every Lord’s Day. He has emphasised that the church is a family where love, understanding and tolerance must be shown. One vulnerable adult has attended and been shown support and understanding. Numbers attending the Sunday School have averaged about 7 and the children show great enthusiasm. Parents have attended the services and the Church lunches once a month. A summer outing was organised for children and their friends. The children have a real sense of belonging to the group and get on very well with each other resulting in few discipline problems. This benefts their mental health especially those with autistic tendencies. They grew vegetables in a raised bed at the rear of the church and gave them away to local residents. A quarterly Church Newsletter giving news of activities at the Church and welcoming all to participate has continued. |
