## ’ - ARUN YOUTH AQUA CENTRE CHAIRMAN S ANNUAL REPORT FOR AGM 

## FOR THE FINANCIAL YEAR ENDED 31st OCTOBER 2025 

WELCOME ALL TO THE 2025 AGM FOR THE ARUN YOUTH AQUA CENTRE 

## OBJECT OF CHARITY 

- To help and educate young people FROM 8-18 through water-based activities and later on to train them to standards of sailing and dingy instruction. 

- To support young people in developing their physical and mental capabilities as individuals and as members of society. 

- The management committee strives to provide the necessary resources for all activities to be achieved. 

## ABOUT THE AYAC CHARITY 

- Our charity is entirely run by volunteers without whom the centre could not operate. I would like to re-iterate the point that there are always jobs that need doing around the compound and as well as water based assistance. If you feel you have some time or specific skills, and may be able to assist with general maintenance please do let one of the committee know. 

- With this in mind I would like to say thank you to everyone involved in the committee, and the wider group of AYAC who contribute a lot of time and effort behind the scenes before during and after the sailing season 



- Thank you to Andy Wilson, a true hero, in his role as treasurer, and many other things he does for us. 

- A final thank you to our centre Principle Rob and Chief Instructor James for keeping the centre running smoothly.  Along with Tony, who does an exceptional amount for the club, mostly unnoticed! 

## EVENTS THIS YEAR 

## TRACTOR 

- After a lot of hard work trying to raise funds for a much needed new tractor, we couldn't reach our target of £15,000.00, we eventually managed to get together around £8,500.00 including a generous donation from a former participant who still pops down occasionally. 

Tony Found a tractor at auction, and with 30 mins to go to the end and a few hectic messages we decided to bid, and as you all now know we won the auction. And thanks to some phone calls and a generous trailer hire company, Andy and I headed off to deepest darkest Wales to collect it. 

I have to say this was a huge relief to us all, as the old tractor has been on her last legs for what feels like the last few years. 



## COMPOUND WORKS 

- From Jan-April- Many of our team were hard working in the compound, for the second year running. Works included, completing cladding to the centre building, toilet bases completed, and toilets re installed on an even keel, no more of that sinking feeling. 

Windows and doors installed and a new decking area which proved essential for the summer tuck shop and family events 

## SOCIAL EVENTS 

- Bowling evening, with a great attendance from both parents and kids 

## WATER BASED ACTIVITIES 

- We have enjoyed a range of water based activities this year and events have included: 

A very successful Family day 

The WSSYSA Regatta held at Itchenor 

Residential weekend to Cobnor. 

A final thanks and congratulations to our dinghy instructors who have led a successful year and have grown in confidence and ability.

This is my second full year since taking over as chairman, and my third AGM. I have been extremely proud of our efforts to build the centre, to fundraise and to attract new members.  We have done so well this year and we should all be proud of our successes, many of which were outlined in our recent newsletter.

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the above charity (“the Trust”) for the year ended 31/10 /2025. **Responsibilities and** As the charity's trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the **basis of report** accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”). 

I report in respect of my examination of  the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act. 

- **Independent** I have completed my examination.  I confirm that no material matters have 

- **examiner's statement** come to my attention in connection with the examination (other than that disclosed below *) which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect: 

   - the accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act; or 

   - the accounts did not accord with the accounting records; or 

   - the accounts did not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a ‘true and fair’ view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination. 

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
