## **Overview**

The charities act 2006 requires all registered charities with a gross income of over £25,000 a year to prepare annual trustee's reports. This report has been prepared in accordance with the guidance available from the charities commission and aims to summarise the past year's achievements.

RSMK is also open to everyone and makes no divisions between caste, creed, sex or religious orientation, therefore strives to encourage cohesion amongst all.

## **Objectives and activities**

In addition to religious activities, RSMK also hosts other affiliated clubs that cater for members and the wider general public who wish to participate in them, such as:

- Harmonium and Tabla Classes (Musical Instruments)

- Gurbani Santhia Classes (Study of the Sikh Scriptures)

- Punjabi Classes (Sikh language)

- Lunch Club

These facilities are intended to promote health and wellbeing, community spirit, educate on history and diversity of the Sikh faith amongst all age groups.

RSMK is a fully registered venue for civil marriage ceremonies and offers a capacity of up to 250 people.

In order to facilitate its objectives, it is important the existing structure is maintained on an ongoing basis by successive managing committees, volunteers and members.

## **Achievements and performance**

RSMK assesses its performance by looking at how it has advanced the knowledge and understanding of Sikh religious and spiritual teachings to the congregation.

In keeping with the Sikh philosophy of sharing and helping those in need, the Gurudwara actively raises funds to help those in need and for other charitable causes.

## **Structure, Governance and Management**

The Gurudwara is managed by an elected executive management committee of eleven members who are appointed in accordance with the guidelines as outlined in the Gurudwara’s constitution.

The management committee meet monthly to deal with any operational and financial developments of the Gurudwara. The management committee members have a duty to identify and review risks that the Gurudwara may be exposed to and ensure that appropriate controls are in place to mitigate against any fraud and error.

## **Independent Examiner’s Report on The Accounts**

Date: 20 April 2021

To,

The Trustees

Ramgarhia Sabha Milton Keynes Temple.

Re: Independent examination report of accounts.

Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner

The charity’s trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity’s trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under the Charities (Accounts and Reports) regulations 2008 No 629, and that an independent examination is needed.

It is my responsibility to:

- examine the accounts under section 145 of the Charities Act

- follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity Commission (under section 145(5)(b) of the Charities Act, and

- state whether particular matters have come to my attention.

## Basis of independent examiner’s statement

My examination was carried out in accordance with general Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records.

It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters.

Independent examiner's statement

In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention (other than that disclosed below *)

1. which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in, any material respect, the requirements:

   - to keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act; and

   - • to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the Charities Act have not been met; or

2. to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
