The charity continues to provide grants to 5UPPOrt the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Canctr Hospital & Research Centre in Pakistart. which was founded in 1994 by Imran Khan, a trustee of the Charity. The hospital nms primarily on donations and generous contributions from around the wtsrld. The hospital has cstablished itself as a eentre of ex¢ellence, providtng treatsnent to thousan(ts of canccr patients, who would otherwise be unable to afford cancer care. The Shaukat Khanum Memorial Tjust is committed to provide diagnostic and therapeulic care absolutely free to cancer patients who cannot afford IL Since 1994. the hospital has Come 2 long way, but there is still a lot to be accomplished. Expansion plans for the future are already undenvay for uPading existiD8 facilities and diversifying efforts for cancer treatment and research. The Bone Marrowlstem Cell Transplant unit had been opened with the first Bone Mam)w Transplantstion proccdurc w2s caled out in April 2006. The Shaukai Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospir81 & Research Centr¢ opened a multi-storey diagnostic centre in Karachi which is equipped with stat¢ of the an PET CT scanner. This will ensure thai patients do not have to travel long distances for their diagnosis.
