## **SHALOM CHRISTIAN TRUST (Moreton Christian Assembly)**

## **TRUSTEES’ REPORT**

## **For the year ending 31[st] December 2022**

## **Administrative Details**

Its Registered Charity Number is 1000362.

The principal address of the Charity is 14 Orchard Road, Moreton, Wirral, CH46 8TS.

As at 31[st] December 2022, the trustees were:

Mr Ashley Thompson (paid part-time as church pastor) Mrs Diane Cummings Mrs Valerie Borlase (appointed 30[th] November 2022)

Mr Ray Borlase sadly passed away during the year (30[th] August 2022).

## **Objectives and Activities**

The aims of the Trust are as follows:

- The advancement of the Christian religion by the proclamation of the gospel and the strengthening of believers in the Lord.

- • The promotion of prayer and intercession for our nation and all nations, thus establishing a “house of prayer for all nations”. • The provision of accommodation either permanent or temporary for those in need of the same and to supply pastoral oversight as may be necessary for such individuals.

- The relief of poverty and the promotion of other charitable purposes.

- The provision of education for school children based on sound biblical beliefs.

The primary function of the Trust is in the provision of a local church fellowship, based on sound Biblical doctrine and teaching, operating under the name of ‘Moreton Christian Assembly’. This provides spiritual teaching and encouragement to those who take part in its meetings (as well as those who listen to its recordings), and provides opportunity for them to pray for the benefit of the nation and the world.

It is the policy of the trustees to distribute a number of gifts during the course of the year for the furtherance of the Christian faith worldwide and the aid of those in need. These include gifts to missionary organisations and relief work and to individual full time workers. Within the unrestricted funds of the Trust, the total distribution is normally approximately equal to 10% of the gross income. This, together with activities in our local area (visits, pastoral care and financial gifts), is a key way in which the trustees provide for the relief of poverty and promote other charitable purposes.

The church’s local accommodation is made available at the trustees’ discretion to those in need of it, and has been during this year.

The provision within the Trust for Christian education has not been implemented thus far.

## **Review of Achievements and Performance**

The key activities outlined above have continued during the year.

Regular activities have taken place on the church premises and online, including Sunday services, mid-week prayer meetings and Bible studies, tots group, and coffee mornings. Parents, grandparents and other carers appreciate the tots group, and the coffee morning is a time when members of the public can chat and receive refreshments. No charge is made for any of our activities, which are all for the public benefit.

10% of our income has been distributed to a number of organisations and individuals involved in missionary and aid work, as is our policy.

The church’s accommodation was used for several months to house a family who had moved to the area from overseas, who joined the church. It has also been made available as needed for ad hoc short visits, particularly by those in ministry.

## **Financial statement**

The Trust had an income of £27,379 during the year, and outgoings of £21,663. This meant an overall increase of £2619, with a balance of £29,041 carried forward.

The trustees always ensure the charity has sufficient reserves to carry on its work for at least 3 months.

## **Structure, governance and management**

The Shalom Christian Trust which covers Moreton Christian Assembly is constituted by the Trust Deed dated 31[st] August 1990.

Trustees are to number between three and seven, and must be in agreement with the Trust’s aims and statement of faith.

New trustees are appointed by continuing trustees with a unanimous decision.

One trustee (the pastor) is also paid for his services as pastor, under the Charity Commission’s authorisation, based on the belief that the spiritual leadership of the church fellowship should be represented on the board of trustees. He excuses himself from discussions where there would be a conflict of interest, such as around his payment.

Signed for and on behalf of the trustees:

**Ashley Thompson** _**Trustee and Pastor**_
