THE RONDO TRUST FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS TRUSTEES REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDED
31 July 2022
Charity No. 1000051
The trustees present their report for the year to 31 July 2022
OBJECTS AND PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES
The Rondo Trust for The Performing Arts is a body set up by a deed on 27 July 1990 (amended by deed on 17 August 2009). The objects of the trust are to educate the public in the performing arts, in parcular by the promoon and producon of plays and the encouragement of the arts including the arts of drama, mime, dance, singing and music for the benefit of the public.
The main acvies undertaken by the trust are the promoon of performances at the Rondo Theatre by both amateur and professional arsts, and supporng the Rondo Music and Concert Club, the Rondo Theatre Company, the Rondo Writers Group, the Rondo Actors Workshops, and childrens theatre groups.
The trustees have had regard to the Charity Commission's guidance on public benefit.
TRUSTEES
The trustees serving during the year are listed in the Administraon report on page 1.
APPOINTMENT OF TRUSTEES
New trustees may be appointed by a resoluon of the trustees.
ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE
The trustees report that the Trust has successfully weathered the storm created by the Covid crisis and is in good shape. The trustees are looking forward to a successful future. The trustees are grateful for the support of the Arts Council, Bath & North East Somerset Council, and everyone who donated to the Appeal for Funds iniated in March 2020. During the year the Trust received £2,284 as a grant from the Arts Council, and grants from Bath & North East Somerset Council totalling £3,626. The Trust has also received donaons from individuals through the Rondo Lover scheme, and other schemes as listed in note 3 to the accounts.
The trustees connue to ensure that the Rondo Theatre is well maintained.
FINANCIAL REVIEW
As a consequence of the Covid crisis the acvies of the Trust were halted in March 2020 and only resumed in July 2021. Good management and the grants and donaons received have enabled the Trust to look forward to pursuing its objecves successfully in the coming months and years. The theatre is now back to normal working, although audience numbers have not yet fully recovered to prepandemic levels. The trustees are confident of connuing improvement.
Reserves. It is the policy of the trustees to maintain reserves sufficient to ensure the connued successful operaon of the theatre and its acvies. The trustees consider that the reserves held are appropriate to pursue the objects and acvies of the trust.
RISK MANAGEMENT
The trustees monitor the risks to the organisaon on a regular basis. They are sasfied that systems are in place to minimise or migate these.
TRUSTEES RESPONSIBILITIES
The trustees are required to prepare accounts for each financial year, which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the trust and of the surplus or deficit for that year. In preparing those accounts the trustees are required to:
1) Select suitable accounng policies and apply them consistently.
2) Make judgements and esmates that are reasonable and prudent.
3) Prepare the financial statements on the going concern basis, unless it is inappropriate to presume that the trust will connue in operaon.
The trustees are responsible for the keeping of proper accounng records which disclose with reasonable accuracy at any me the financial posion of the trust. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the trust and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevenon and detecon of fraud and other irregularies.
The trustees consider that the audit requirement of secon 144 of the Charies Act 2011 does not apply.
VOLUNTEERS
The trust connues to rely on volunteers who support the staff employed by the trust. The volunteers make the Rondo the success that it is and the trustees would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their connued support.

THE RONDO TRUST FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS
REPORT OF THE INDEPENDENT EXAMINER FOR THE YEAR ENDED
31 July 2022
Report of The Independent Examiner to the Trustees of the Rondo Trust for the Performing Arts. Charity Number 1000051.
I report on the accounts of the Trust for the year ended
31 July 2022
Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner
The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity’s trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144 of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Charities Act”) and that an independent examination is needed.
It is my responsibility to:
-
examine the accounts under section 145 of the Charities Act,
-
to follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity Commission (under
-
section 145(5)(b) of the Charities Act, and
-
to state whether particular matters have come to my attention
Basis of independent examiner’s statement
My examination was carried out in accordance with general Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a ‘true and fair’ view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.
Independent examiner's statement
In connection with my examination, no material matters have come to my attention which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect:
-
the accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act; or
-
the accounts did not accord with the accounting records; or
the accounts did not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a ‘true and fair’ view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.
I have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
