Trustees are Committee members elected annually at the AGM. ## OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES The objectives of the Charity are to promote, improve, maintain and develop public education in an appreciation of music, by the presentation of concerts and other activities. A number of public performances are put on during the year and a number of local schools provide singers for at least one of these. The Chorale aids other local charities by providing a choir and by aiding with various fund-raising activities. It also sponsors a prize for a Young Musician of the Year and financially supports the music departments of three local schools. ## ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE The Chorale has over a hundred members undertaking activities in accordance with the objectives agreed with the Charity Commission. Unfortunately these activities were severely curtailed by the Covid 19 pandemic. Our three public concerts during the year were very well attended and artistically of a very high standard employing first rate professional musicians, orchestra and soloists. We had to cancel one concert at short notice and abandon our normal summer concert due to government restrictions. Our Christmas concert included participation by three local primary schools whose pupils took a full part in the musical offerings both with the Chorale and also by themselves. This gave them the benefit of working with an adult choir and with a silver band at a public concert. We were very pleased to be able to support their musical education not only practically but with significant financial support to each of them. The Chorale was honoured again to be invited to perform in the Brandenburg series of concerts put on in London churches and attracting a good audience. We continue to enjoy the patronage of Sir Karl Jenkins and support contemporary British music with public performances. We look forward to resuming our activities as soon as the Covid 19 restrictions allow. Page 1 ## FINANCIAL REVIEW The Trustees regularly review the major operational risks in putting on major public performances and the financial results against annual budgets. The Chorale’s financial situation is very sound and the Trustees consider that the current balance of funds held in reserve is at an appropriate level against potential future issues. ## DECLARATION The Trustees declare that they have approved the Trustees’ Report above and have authorised Michael Douglas Steele as Hon Treasurer of the Charity to sign on behalf of the Trustees. The charity’s trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144 of the Charities Act 2011 (The Charities Act) and that an independent examination is needed. It is my responsibility to: - Examine the accounts under section 145 of the Charities Act - To follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Charities Act, and - To state whether particular matters have come to my attention. ## BASIS OF INDEPENDENT EXAMINER’S STATEMENT My examination was carried out in accordance with general Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a “true and fair” view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below. ## INDEPENDENT EXAMINER’S STATEMENT In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention 1. Which gives me reasonable cause to believe that, in any material respect, the requirements: - To keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act, and - To prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the Charities Act have not been met, or 2. To which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
